northwood house

Northwood House and Park in Cowes is not only where Lobster are lucky enough to have our office, it’s also the most fabulous film location with an absolute wealth of interiors and exteriors to film in. Northwood House is a Grade II Georgian building sat in the middle of stunning extensive landscaped gardens with tennis courts, a bowls lawn, marquee bar, long established trees and beautifully kept lawns. The ground floor has the most fabulous ballroom which could double as the White House with its large bay window and Buckingham Palace.  Following recent renovations all of the ground floor rooms which include a dining room and drawing room that can be opened into the ballroom are in immaculate condition and contain many original features such as fireplaces and hand painted walls.  The Lawn Bar, Egypt Corner, Library and the beautiful blue Rotunda room are all function rooms to be found on the ground floor which lead from two long corridors. The painted ceilings are also worth mentioning.  Country house, royal place, government building, this property has it all.  The house was remodelled by John Nash in 1807. Over the years the property has been a private family home, a school, a nunnery, a hospital, council offices, wedding venue and hosts the famous Isle of Wight Literary Festival. There is ample parking and an industrial kitchen.

"The crew have found the Isle of Wight a really pleasant place to work and I doubt that they've missed sitting in traffic jams on the M25...!"

"I would wholeheartedly recommend Lobster Locations to any visiting Location Manager. Lisa has treated us with speed, friendliness and fairness throughout and she pulled several locations out of the hat for us. Her location owners clearly trust her and she knows a lot about the island as a whole. She's been a true ally and she makes me hope that I'll be back to film on the Isle of Wight again soon."
