The Fort

Shoot and stay

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, overlooking Freshwater Bay, this old Palmerston fort completed in 1856 is now a private residence. The property has one of the most spectacular views in the UK. There are panoramic sea views that you can watch the sun rise and set from. To the West, views are across Tennyson Down and National Trust land. The uninterrupted sea views can be enjoyed from the modern, large and spacious main open plan kitchen- lounge- diner. This space leads onto both a balcony and an outdoor seating area. Leading on from the main living area is also a galleried library ideal for stargazing in this famous dark skies area. The master bedroom is positioned to enjoy the incredible sea views; other bedrooms are available.

Adjacent to the property is what used to be a tea room. It is now a huge open space on two levels, enjoying the sea views and out to Tennyson Down. This space currently houses a table tennis table, but could be used as an event space, art gallery, yoga studio etc and is ideal for set building. Outside, the fort has cliff edge paths, a courtyard, a dry moat, a bridge and various outbuildings and garages.

"The crew have found the Isle of Wight a really pleasant place to work and I doubt that they've missed sitting in traffic jams on the M25...!"

Supervising Location Manager, "The Beast Must Die"

"I would wholeheartedly recommend Lobster Locations to any visiting Location Manager. Lisa has treated us with speed, friendliness and fairness throughout and she pulled several locations out of the hat for us. Her location owners clearly trust her and she knows a lot about the island as a whole. She's been a true ally and she makes me hope that I'll be back to film on the Isle of Wight again soon."
